Without exception, ALL mandates are bad

From the ‘thought of the day’ department of our staff.

By definition, something must be ‘mandated’ because an individual, group, or entity will not take the voluntary action on its own. Given that the founding of our nation was to recognize a free and independent people, these people are granted rights of free choice.

A mandate dictates something be done not out of providing a convincing and rational argument, but rather out of the brute force of coercion, law, and force. It uses coercion in place of thought and rationality. If an idea is so good, it doesn’t NEED a mandate. People will voluntarily embrace it.

Mandates are the tools of evil, ignorant, controlling thugs. And never do good; only harm.

We occasionally see spineless CEOs seeking or endorsing Federal, State, or local mandates. This, of course, is because they don’t want to bear the legitimate responsibility of making a difficult decision and bear the consequences in a competitive marketplace. Such people obviously shouldn’t be in any position of trust or responsibility.

It baffles us when we actually find people listening to media sources advocating some sort of mandate or other. Like it’s in any way acceptable. Obviously this identifies the media source as a propaganda parrot for a despotic regime. Fortunately, most of our clients either reject mandates out of hand or can be educated on why they are always bad.
