Racial Issues

We here at D-J have pretty much stood above the fray in that we completely reject the ‘woke’ and ‘cancel culture’. We view competence at task and excellence as our benchmark and believe this manure takes away from achieving excellence. So it’s is not a part of our culture at D-J and our company pretty much takes the “Harden up Princess and deal with it” approach. We’re all born equal, if we’re going to succeed it means that we truly embrace the premise that all men WERE created equal. That means equal at start, equal through life, through the good times and the bad. There’s equality of opportunity but no guarantee of equality of outcome. There IS no segment that is more ‘equal’ than any other nor will we ever buy into this paradigm. Race is NEVER an excuse for bad behavior, nor does anyone from a present generation owe anything to anyone long gone and deep in an ancestral past. While we are accountable for OUR actions, we are NOT accountable for the actions of others (especially those who passed on long before we were born).

Recently, one of our staff was subject to this idiocy in ancillary duties not related to his consulting work on our team. His response was full of merit and we believe it’s worth repeating:

“I have come to the conclusion that individuals who get offended by racial slurs have to be some of the most willfully ignorant people on the planet.

I mean, think about it — what possible input does a person have towards his or her genetic makeup ?

None. None whatsoever.

So you really have nothing to atone for, do, or feel good or bad about. It’s simply who you are and that decision was made by others for you with zero input from YOU.

What matters is what you’ve done with yourself after that.

Slurs only go towards showing the ignorance of the sender and if anything I’d feel sorry for people who think that way. They also can be a term of endearment or part of the joy of going through life and giving any of us a hard time which is a part of life. A form of ribbing and colloquialism that should be rejoiced in and not taken as some excuse to act as a 4-year old over.

So I’d suggest to the delicate princesses out there they grow up, and jealously guard the people they give the power to offend them. At the end of the day, unless a person is physically threatened when a person is ‘offended’ by a triviality the problem usually lay with the offendee.

The phrase “Harden up Princess” has great value.”
