We at D-J were delighted to hear about President Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris “Climate” accords and commend him on the move. Moreover, his appointment of sane people to the EPA, DOE and Department of Commerce is a good step towards rejecting this evil, Marxist “decarbonization” strategy which globalists are so keen to impose. Trying to meter mammal produced CO2 and methane is perhaps the most encompassing communist strategy contrived to date; transcending ethnic purges, racial division and slavery, economic class warfare, or divisions, war and strife based on different religious belief (as a side note, while we at D-J believe one can never kill in the name of God–nor does He endorse such activities, we do believe the Almighty might understand and forgive an individual when such a thing becomes necessary as might be in the case of self-defense, preserving ones’ inalienable God-given rights, or war).
Every mammal emits CO2 and Methane. And burns hydrocarbons (or carbohydrates if you prefer). It’s necessary to basic human life. Everyone NEEDS energy to live. By an attempt of a government to meter this (by force and law)–based on some ‘save the planet’ straw man–that entity gains all encompassing power over EVERYTHING ANYONE ever does in his or her life. It’s a never ending spiral of legislation and enforcement intruding into everything anyone ever does. And at the extreme gives a government the authority to incarcerate an individual for breaking wind in public; we at D-J are sure that if this chain of destruction wasn’t broken at some point as it has been we’d see the Federal Fart Police patrolling public spaces. With sophisticated IR Methane detectors to pinpoint who let one rip.
And thank God it HAS been broken. With America completely rejecting the narrative and President Trump acting upon this mandate. No doubt we’ll see lawsuits from miscreants, but the die has been cast and decarbonization is dead. Good riddance.
We’ve posted a complete dissertation from some of the most qualified scientists and engineers in the field in the past–of the complete fraud of the ‘climate change’ scam. No need to re-hash it but it’s available here for those who might have missed the deep-dive technical aspects they are available here:
And it’s confounded our staff how ANYONE could listen to celebrity ‘climate change’ activists (including Algore). Individuals who guzzle hydrocarbons at a dizzying rate; using more oil and NATGAS in one year than a family would use in a lifetime. Jetting away to a ‘save the planet’ junket with SUV entourage, private airplane (nothing wrong with that–but even one of the most fuel efficient aircraft–the PC-24–will burn around 500 gallons of kerosene (equivalent to Diesel) for a 1200 or so mile trip. If the greenie really put their money where their mouth is and drove there in their Prius he’d have burned 30 gallons–or perhaps not made the trip at all and videoconferenced). Having multiple homes (some more than 12,000 square feet) all of which are heated, lit, and cooled on the grid by hydrocarbons.
We at D-J certainly don’t mind folks living ‘high on the hog.’ And fully realize those folks who are living ‘high on the hog’ through their spending employ OTHERS in high end-jobs which make our economy boom–and everyone’s boat rises. What we DO mind are public scam artists using coercion and the force and threat of law to bridle OTHERS who want to enjoy their corner of the American Dream. People who junket away to ‘climate change’ conferences using resources the average Joe or Jane could only dream of and advocating laws be passed which further restrict Joe or Jane (through carbon taxes, shuttering coal plants raising utility rates cutting into their meager budget, forcing utilities to limit carbon emissions–which raise rates– hurting those families trying to make ends meet, or placing useless DEF or emissions restrictions on Diesel Trucks bringing groceries to market–raising grocery prices. Or by limiting US drilling raising Diesel prices which hike grocery costs of trucks bringing food to market).
And we’re very grateful the American People saw through this in electing Trump as President. Someone who will reject the CO2 nonsense and open up the floodgates making America the premier energy producer in the world.
Surprisingly enough, we at D-J do consult to several universities as well as Doctoral candidates presenting dissertations. Living in a bit of an ivory tower (and probably consuming more hydrocarbons than our founder does), they can’t understand how others don’t ‘get it.’ Their ‘science’ is ‘solid.’ We only hope we can help them.
We attempt to show them how their model is only as good as the data input into it; you might have the finest model in the planet but if the tolerances of your input data are exceeded by other factors, your model doesn’t work anymore. And you can’t extrapolate or ‘forecast’ based on anything other than true and unadulterated data. Which they don’t have because climate models occur over millennia and Indians in Texas 500 years ago weren’t carrying clocks and thermometers, nor was the handwritten data in whatever cities existed at the time all that accurate. And their radiocarbon data tolerances looking back 10,000 years exceeds that of all reliably recorded information as well as the tolerances in the solar input as well (if your data is accurate to one part in 10,000, and any contribution of ALL sources of CO2 lie in one part in one million, sorry, chum, you can’t draw ANY conclusions).
Some listen, some don’t. Unfortunately we at D-J well understand ‘groupthink,’ well understand peer pressure (which leads to ‘groupthink’), and well understand the psychological stress of being someone who disagrees with authority figures who’ve bought into a party line. Diatomaceous himself laments this; he lived through the rebellious pot-smoking culture of the 60’s and 70’s (and might or might not have had a couple of “Bob Marley’s” during his college years in the 70’s) and really doesn’t understand how universities have gotten away from questioning the ‘establishment’ and decided to throw in with the Marxists. His impressions:
“Man, when I was in college, it was all about questioning ‘authority’ and the ‘establishment’. We were taught to be free thinkers, and rebel at all the junk in the past. Yeah, ALOT of it was just being young and stupid but still part of that was being free….we did ALOT of dumb things and I’ve learned alot. There were certainly alot of Marxist thinkers then but even then it was more about learning how to think; not WHAT to think–I was pretty stupid in buying into the Socialist crap but that’s what happens when one is young….When you’re young you think there’s this magic money tree that supports every dream anyone might have and there’s no trade off in life; that there aren’t any consequences–that there are limited resources–that that money comes from someone else and just taking it is better than leaving ‘the man’ to spend it; that there aren’t any hard decisions to be made. You be you and live for today. We rejected the squares. And had our share of the babes. Dad was a sucker for living in the system. And that’s a part of being young and growing up, which I think fine. We just don’t understand when we’re young. I got through college fine and even graduated cum laude. Even majored in a hard science–Electrical Engineering–which was damn hard. And somehow found a way to work this around all the other stuff.
What I DIDN’T understand at the time was that Dad was working two jobs to get me through college — to give me opportunities that he didn’t have as a steelworker in Pittsburgh — and would pass away at 63 perhaps as a result of what he had to take on to move me forward. I miss him. Really miss him. And can’t go back to tell him how sorry I was at my arrogance at the time. But I did make the most of my time I had with him, and resolved never to let my hubris get in the way of my life again.
What disturbs me the most today about colleges is they DON’T teach the students how to think. They so much advocate the “think like me” rather than look to flaws in the theory. We didn’t do that; we questioned everything. As flawed as the 60s and 70s might have been–and how stupid, resentful, and entitled I might have been–we never attempted to bridle free thinking. Even if that free thinking was socialist/communist/full of ‘misinformation.’ But now the kids get coerced into thinking one way and not actually looking into it for themself. “Climate Change” is a prime example; there are so many holes in the data and assumptions and tolerances–not to mention ALL of this ‘real’ data is less than 100 years old which is nothing in terms of how our climate actually changes. The main difference is that we’ve gotten a HUGE change in information flow since 1990 and exponentially we see more data now. We had 3 TV channels when I was a kid and the Weather Channel as 30 years in the future. We listened to AM radio and read newspapers. Now I can get an instantaneous weather report in Bejing. Which lead to my agreement to sign on to the site, doing the work to become a consultant to some very well heeled people, and be a principal. To some extent it’s righting a wrong and atoning to Dad–rest his soul. But more than that I couldn’t stand by while well spoken people with a nice voice or ‘credentials’ on paper (got a few of those myself which make me look better than I really am) manipulated masses to do some pretty horrific things. History is rife with that and it’s really hurt humanity and literally killed millions. Given my degrees I’m an ‘egghead’ too but the difference is I don’t have the hubris or corrupt nature to cash in on groupthink and realize the limitations of my models and intelligence.”
We thank Diatomaceous for his prose from the heart.
As far as the ‘climate change’ (AKA carbon scam) nonsense here is our suggestion and novel thought.
How about we assume that the warming (or cooling) of the planet happens NO MATTER WHAT we do. This is the reality of the situation.
It’s been happening since the earth cooled, and it’s GOING to happen regardless of one’s position or belief on ‘climate change.’ Whether that’s one’s egghead misconception of CO2 or the reality of human nature. There’s no way it won’t happen, and hand wringing doesn’t bring solution.
Nor can any accord cause any sovereign nation to change behavior. Some might; others won’t. That’s the reality and the major polluters (CO2 ISN’T a pollutant, but China and India will spew REAL pollutants like NOx, heavy metals, S02, cadmium, gallium, arsenides, glycols, dioxins, organophosphates, and everything else) will do so no matter what we do.
“Climate Change” — mostly natural — is GOING to happen regardless of ones’ belief. There is no way that sovereign nations won’t ‘cheat’ on any so-called agreement made up. While most reading this know that carbon has nothing to do with this–even if it did–there’s no way to bridle carbon emissions. Differences in interests and political philosophy–and simple economics–means this won’t happen. Period. There is no possible way with differences in interests and political philosophy that nations will realistically abide with any agreement — even if it were possible — to limit carbon emissions. Ain’t gonna happen. No matter what the hand-wringers want.
Our recommendation at D-J is that mankind finds a way to DEAL with it just like mankind has done in every generation throughout history to adapt to his environmental situation. Imagine if Cavemen–looking for food–decided to bridle themselves inside of the cave for a month because they thought drawing on the cave walls prevented game from being in the fields outside the cave. Same thing.
Mankind has dealt with harsh climate in every generation throughout history; these have ranged from tropical through desert through arctic. Eskimos and Inuit have been living in and dealing with the most hostile climates on the planet for millennia–well before cell phones or instant temperature probes existed. They have survived just fine. So why do we wring our hands and find a problem that’s not really there ? Because Eggheads and miscreants with ties have found some ‘crisis’ to steal our money, tell us what to do, and cash in on our fear. Let’s reject them, and if the ‘climate changes’ develop REAL energy sources (Nuclear and Coal — and moving water) to DEAL WITH IT. That’s what we do as Americans.
