Oh to be Gay !

Words mean something to us at D-J. Printed words aren’t a particularly good form of communication (how many times are texts misconstrued, or how easy is it to fight over nothing in email or on a website ?). It’s been said that over 75% of communication is non-verbal (meaning that other things like hand motions, facial expressions, and movement convey most of our ‘feeling’ about something). And even spoken words often mean less than the inflections or delivery of the speech (which is unfortunate–most of the worst crimes against humanity throughout history have been perpetrated by people who are malicious and very well spoken. Who seem like a credible authority but actually are out to hurt people and exude power for themselves).

We really enjoy watching the Spencer Tracy/Frederic March version of “Inherit the Wind.” It’s a loosely based, movie-ized version of the Scopes Monkey Trial (which itself was a bit of a marketing scheme designed to put Dayton, Tennessee on the map. Given that fact that most people who think of Dayton don’t think of Tennessee–but rather Ohio–it probably didn’t work). But if the trial (featuring Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Brian) didn’t go according to the movie script, it should have. And the real-life figures were every bit as theatrical and titanic as those in the movie (we suggest the original if one is going to watch).

During this, Spencer Tracy (aka Henry Drummond playing Clarence Darrow) makes the remark that spoken language is a poor enough way to convey thought and intent, and by being occasionally profane (for emphasis) it enhances the language. We agree to a point, but also agree that profanity in excess diminishes the result of using it, and usually indicates ignorance on the user of the language. Different tribes talk in different ways; A group of male pilots, firefighters, soldiers or cops might speak a wee bit differently than a group of soccer moms around their kids but this is how group norms work.

And we at D-J certainly don’t endorse someone using a continuous series of F-bombs in public mixed company; to this it shows a degree of ignorance and lack of class. Truthfully, we’re a bit disheartened at how prevalent this has become in public social media (usually from liberal leftists who are apoplectic about something or other). It doesn’t add anything to making a point or coherent argument.

Language matters though. It’s been said ‘he who controls the language controls the outcome’; particularly in contract negotiations. The core concept here is that by controlling the language one can bridle and funnel (and manipulate) intent and drive the conversation. This is why Trump’s EOs regarding the DEI and ‘woke’ nonsense are so important; the idea of DEI is to shift perception such that people feel guilty and ‘racist’ simply for being themselves. Tolerant, good, generous people are ‘guilted’ into thinking that just by living life they owe someone a debt they don’t. The concept of guilt-shaming (using manufactured guilt) isn’t particularly new; some religions have been doing it for centuries over things like sex.

And it’s subtile. As well as incremental. And a debt that can never be paid off fully because the goalposts are constantly shifting in one direction.

One of our clients pointed out that UPS recently introduced an insane scam to those using credit cards (which is just about everyone). It starts with an original invoice to account holders advising them of a 2% fee for those using credit cards (which seems innocent enough; merchants incur a fee for those using plastic so it’s not unreasonable that some of them might want to pass that on to customers). But it doesn’t stop there. After the ORIGINAL invoice is paid (which doesn’t include the 2% fee), ANOTHER invoice is sent for 2% of the previous notice to pay for the ‘fee.’ Which, of course, is likely paid off with some type of card. And then ANOTHER invoice is generated to pay for the 2% fee on the 2% fee that was just paid off. Which is likely paid off with a card generating yet ANOTHER invoice to pay a 2% fee on the 2% fee paid for the 2% fee on the original invoice and so on.

(As a side note we’ve advised our clients to file a complaint with their CC company disputing the additional charges and billing as well as their respective state regulatory agencies and the FTC on this billing practice as it obviously violates the Uniform Commercial Code).

The DEI/Woke/Gender issue can be thought of as this in reverse. While UPS approaches zero billing asymptotically, the DEI/Woke/Gender issue does so exponentially. As one concession is made, more outrageous demands are exponentially made. And they got to the point where one of the most basic concepts in biology and life (man and woman) was in play. It’s obvious to anyone the difference between male and female and governed by science (genetics) and equipment. While the equipment can be surgically altered to meet the wants of the user, the chromosomes cannot. Body function can be suppressed and altered by hormone treatment, but a male will always be genetically a male and a female always genetically a female. It’s science, and nothing can be done to alter that fact at present.

If you can convince a society that an (unaltered) man is a woman, and an (unaltered) woman is a man, you can use language to shift ANYTHING to show anything as an altered reality.

And that was the intent.

This had nothing to do with lifestyle choices or ‘gay’ rights and everything to do with gaslighting a population to accept any agenda that their ‘masters’ might inflict upon them. It was–and is–that simple. Things like we (as humans) could alter our climate by burning hydrocarbons (we can’t–and we at D-J can’t overstate that the ‘decarbonization’ scam is the most dangerous Marxist scam since Stalin). That we should somehow feel guilty that our distant ancestors owned slaves (which has happened in most every culture throughout ancient history)–something we had no involvement in–and pay someone tons of money. That if we gave up tools for our own self defense by embracing gun control laws (that no bad guy will ever follow) somehow we’d be ‘safe.’ If we ceded constitutional protections against warrantless search and seizure (whether at an airport, on the internet, or by banning a Chinese website), our security would be enhanced. If we banned ‘hate speech’ (specifically protected by our constitution) that we’d all get along harmoniously as a culture. If we raised the minimum wage (which, if it has any effect ALWAYS hurts any economy), we’d be prosperous.

One of our staff had a grandmother — wiser beyond her age — who quipped “I really wish the homosexuals and lesbians hadn’t stolen our word of ‘gay.’ We used that alot in our era and I really liked the word–everyone wants to be ‘gay’ and happy. And now it means something completely different.”

We at D-J don’t judge lifestyle choices nor tell someone how to live their lives. We do wish everyone happiness and recognize every human being as a child of God. We ARE against agendas and shifting goalposts. If you are happy and gay being ‘gay’ we think that’s great. If you are happy and gay being straight we think that’s great too. But please don’t try to force YOUR lifestyle — whatever it is — on others. America is the most tolerant nation in the world when it comes to individual being individuals–accepting different races, lifestyles, religions, etc. We draw the line at coercion. No one should be forced to be someone they’re not or accept things they don’t wish to accept or don’t believe in. We are welcoming a new age where someone isn’t ‘special’ solely because they’re different in some way. We are ALL equal, we’re ALL special.
