Some of our clients and friends — particularly our friend Richard “Swingin’ Dick” Long — had been vexed by the excessive delays they’d been experienced while flying on commercial airlines (although most–like Swingin’ Dick–prefer to fly their own private airplanes whenever possible to avoid the silliness of the TSA and be able to fly armed). Swingin’ Dick usually operates his own aircraft with his band aboard but recently were AOG due to a bad pitot heater and P2/T2 sensing circuit stranding the jet and having to fly Southwest for his Cleveland Extravaganza shortly after New years). He didn’t like the long delay and thankfully his aircraft has since been repaired and Swingin’ Dick is fully up ! And flying around again.

We’d commented on why this is happening a couple of years ago in our mini-exposition of the damage the feckless Covid mandates had caused — and why most airline delays had been occurring. It’s worth reading in that the industry still hasn’t recovered and the crew shortage continues to be a problem:

In the ultimate display of Karma, the DOT announced today it was fining Southwest (to the maximum extent allowable by law) for late arriving flights and chronic delays. Most of the legal basis for the lawsuit references flights between April and August 2022.

A timeline is in order. The original “mandate” (and subsequent dust-up with Airline pilots) happened around October 2021. The delays forming the basis of the lawsuit happened beginning April 2022 and mostly between April and August 2022. Our article was published on June 18, 2022.

So it seems the very same government that attempted to force needles containing an experimental vaccine into the arms of Southwest pilots (resulting in many of the more experienced pilots quitting) is now suing them for delays (caused by pilots quitting) happening immediately thereafter.

HA !

Most of America now sees the various mask mandates and forced vax as a very dark chapter in our history–much like the internment of loyal Japanese Americans in camps during WWII. Those with a conscience–who might have supported mandates–now realize their fear did great harm; the vaccine–while possibly mitigating symptoms, did nothing to prevent transmission and had some VERY significant long-term effects both upon cardiovascular health and in many cases caused the body’s immune system to attack itself. The woke mob of the nation in panic did some pretty horrific stuff. And those who are human are now ashamed they got drawn into the panic. Yes, Covid was a very bad virus but at the end of the day most folks realize that little could have been done to prevent it washing through the population. That doesn’t ease the pain of loved ones lost by what was a nasty event (caused mostly by Chinese Biological Warfare researchers letting a nasty bug get out), but just about everyone with feelings feels ashamed if they got drawn into the panic.

AT THE TIME (read the article if you have any doubt), we had EXPLICITLY WARNED our clients NOT to get drawn into the panic, and to REFUSE to comply with the ‘executive order.’ Not to follow the ‘woke’ or ‘curry favor with the regime’ crowd. And to resist the (illegal) order by the Feds. Even if it meant a fight.

And today it’s pretty obvious why.

We had warned that the government ‘mandated’ this but had absolved itself (and any complicit pharmaceutical companies) of ALL liability. And that any corporation acting to comply with the mandate was not only acting illegally, but would incur UNLIMITED liability for any follow on damage to health of ANY employee. No competent CEO would have followed such a mandate, and doing so would be an unconscionable breach of duty to the shareholders as well as the employee. That D-J saw many (rightful) lawsuits in the future about health consequences and that we’d all probably see some ‘Camp Pendelton’ like advertisement on TV for a class action lawsuit for those forced to vax.

Yet some woke CEOs did it anyway. While Southwest would later back off, the damage had already been done and they had lost many of their most experienced crews.

And now those companies are still short of crews, and are now being (rightfully) sued into oblivion by employees with health issues; some of which were caused by or exacerbated by the vax.

Like we said, at D-J we were never pro or anti-vax when it came to Covid. We presented the facts as best known and left it up to our employees. We offered sick time off for any treatment that they saw fit during Covid, including time to recover from the vax. We presented objective evidence both from our company medical sources as well as everything we knew. We told them we would support whatever decision they made. We made it clear that we would fight ANY mandates or any legal issues relating to Covid on their behalf. And left the CHOICE up to THEM.

Today, Karma kicks in. The SAME administration who tried to force their employees to vaccinate (resulting in many quitting and the subsequent delays) now sues them FOR those delays.

And at D-J we don’t shed a tear. We can’t help clients who refuse to hear sage advice. Some ignorant people still post ‘no firearms’ signs at entry points. We can’t help people who don’t listen. Southwest had it coming, as do others–primarily driven by unethical CEOs who breached their charge to shareholders. The decision was easy–screw the Feds and let employees make an informed decision for themselves backed with full support of the company for whatever they needed in resources. That was the ethical thing to do, the right thing to do. And as it turns out the ‘legal’ thing to do.

But it does require some backbone. It’s lonely at the top and there is nothing that sucks more than having to make a difficult decision in a crisis when you’re the most qualified person in the room–and the person charged with the responsibility OF making that decision is you. It’s not a hard decision to make though–do what’s right.

And surprisingly most of us–when we come to that juncture–know exactly (and intuitively) what that is.
