Israel

We at D-J wish to express our support for the Israeli people during this difficult time and assure them our organization solidly stands behind them in crushing Hamas as well as Iran and Syrian terrorists. We can imagine nothing worse than a father or mother seeing their family killed in front of their very eyes by sub-human evil terrorists. This is NOT a time for negotiation but a time for utter destruction of Hamas and Hezbollah; no REAL American could possibly support Palestinian sympathizers given the violence their organization advocates. Children are indoctrinated to hate Israelis from the day they’re born in such cultures and that inhuman acts towards Israel are somehow justified. As such, there can be no ‘middle ground,’ no ‘cease fire,’ no ‘restraint,’ no ‘limited action’ — it must be put in no uncertain terms that acts of violence from these groups will result in their utter destruction. Unconditional Surrender.

We dwell in solutions at D-J. While our heart goes out to those killed and abducted we need to comprehend that, while the criminals who perpetrated the crimes are solely responsible for them, Israelis HAD been denied tools to defend themselves FROM such attacks in recent years. Not only did Israeli intelligence fail (and intelligence will ALWAYS fail to some degree) but also citizens had had their right to arm themselves severely restricted within the recent past. The first responder to ANY attack is the person that happens to be there, and governments have and ALWAYS WILL fail to warn of an attack. Whether it’s Pearl Harbor, 9/11, or this recent attack.

As such, our clients NEED to be prepared at all times to meet force with force.

There is no doubt that Israeli Intelligence has historically represented the ‘gold standard’ of intelligence assets across the modern world. If it can fail, so can anyone elses’. As did it within the US during our 9/11. And why so many ‘red flags’ are always missed. Just a fact of life.

In the early days of aviation, pilots carrying mail (which was just about every commercial passenger flight) were REQUIRED to be armed. No training program, no onerous regulations–just issued a revolver and ammo to carry on the job. Folks (rightly) figured someone who could fly an airplane could probably figure out how to safely carry a revolver. DC-3 flights carried the designation of the Air Mail route they were flying when carrying commercial passengers (many of whom might well be carrying their revolvers as well; there was no form of searching paying passengers–and we well support this philosophy at D-J). The rules were gradually relaxed such that pilots didn’t HAVE to carry their revolvers; however, most airlines still issued pistols to their Captains (this tradition was continued into the early 60’s; United actually had stamped Colt .380 autos it’d hand out to newly upgrading Captains–the onerous ‘training program’ being a few words like ‘don’t hurt yourself’ from the Chief Pilot). At some point, the nanny staters got involved with predictable results; while promising security they stripped people of tools TO protect themselves and crime on aircraft got worse. Hijackings boomed following the disarming of pilots.

Pilots were trained to comply with Hijacker demands (as many errant ‘security’ departments might advise employees to comply with demands of bad guys). For a while this worked; most Hijackings were crimes of profit or asylum (not terrorism). And would get resolved when the airplane got on the ground either through negotiation or storming the airplane and killing the bad guys.

No one figured that some REALLY bad guys might use the aircraft as a missile.

Then 9/11.

9/11 was a horrific act perpetuated by evil terrorists. America will never forget. We at D-J do hope though at some point America might LEARN. 9/11 was enabled by the fact that crews had been mistrained; namely to go along with hijackers and not fight them. In the case of dealing with terrorists their training could not have been more wrong. One must fight with everything one has–to the extent of even losing the aircraft if need be (much like those brave souls of United 93). Once that was realized, the threat could be negated through reinforced doors and the re-arming of flight crews and some passengers (as well as able bodied passengers who would be determined to stop a would-be hijacker with force). There was never a need for a ‘Patriot Act’ nor the cumbersome and ineffective DHS or TSA. These legal entities and knee-jerk reaction only served to allow our government to surveil the common citizen–effectively punishing the good guys (tried to open a bank account lately ?). Elderly Uncle Fred and Aunt Wilma get strip searched at the TSA entry while Al-Unsafe enters unabated. Pen knives are confiscated while much more effective weapons can be bought at the airport gift shop (or manufactured once inside the ‘secure’ area. If box cutters can be used to stage a hijacking, a few broken wine bottles or metal Eiffel Tower souvenirs can be used to do the same thing. Even the new metal credit cards can be sharpened to a razor’s edge). As such, one that expects ones’ government to protect them against terror attacks will find oneself sorely mistaken. A government CAN wage war and wipe out potential terror sources–and hunt down and kill potential terrorists (which has the added benefit of deterrence)–but that’s about it. The person who will defend against the next terror strike will be one of YOU. And one need accept that fact. YOU are your own first responder.

Israel has come to this realization a bit after the fact. Having had fairly onerous ‘gun control’ regulations in recent years it’s now fast tracking the ability for citizens to re-arm. And will be actively destroying terrorists. While we commend them for hunting down and killing the bad guys, we must point out that they did deprive their citizenry of the tools which might have mitigated this latest horror. And hopefully they’ve learned from this; their common citizenry will cry ‘never again’ and be armed, trained, and proficient.

We at D-J believe it’s important to learn and implement real solutions that will work. Not ‘feel good’ nonsense. OUR next terror attack will NOT occur in rural Pennsylvania or in the homes of the Texas suburbs. Terrorists realize they will be facing an armed population who will kill them and historically as cowards terrorists pick ‘soft’ targets. Also known as ‘Gun Free’ zones. As they did during 9/11 they will pick SOME zone where Americans will be disarmed–be it a school (where teachers can’t carry), government building, sports event (where people are disarmed), day care center, university (where students and teachers can’t carry), or workplace which is declared ‘gun free.’ THAT is where the terrorists strike. And we ought to be better than that. We need be ever vigilant, armed, and prepared. Getting rid of these silly ‘gun free’ zones once and for all. Behavior needs to be targeted; not inanimate objects or tools.

Bottom line is we advise our clients to carry EVERYWHERE. 24/7. Period.

And be trained and proficient. We advise they do NOT need some formal ‘checkout’ program; just to provide the resources where employees can carry and train (often organizing social events at the range). Set up informal competitions between different departments–this is great for motivation and morale and really can improve a persons shooting skills. When he or she is part of a group competing with other groups. And have everyone understand that THEY are part of the security team for the company. Every single employee. ‘See something say something’ is useless; see something (bad) and bang-bang a bit more productive.

Having the potential target armed and ready is the ONLY way to prevent and deter terrorism.
