And of the so-called ‘ghost gun’ rhetoric. We usually advise clients (depending on situation) to allow the unencumbered concealed carry of firearms BUT to make it clear to employees they’ll be responsible for any buffoonery with mishandling a firearm (meaning that concealed means concealed AND that ALL standards of basic firearms safety apply. The gun will stay holstered at work and termination is recommended if a negligent discharge occurs). As such, it’s not a matter of tools and equipment but of actions, behavior, and handling. Most competent people work with all kinds of tools, devices, and substances which can be dangerous if mishandled; firearms are no different than anything else. In fact, one of the most dangerous threats to a civil society can be an idiot with a pen who speaks well and gets an audience.
Our agent was asked about the so-called ‘ghost gun’ ban; this is obviously rhetoric just like ‘gun violence,’ ‘universal (anything),’ ‘background checks,’ ‘assault rifle (or assault style rifle or weapon of war, etc.).’ This rhetoric is used by mindless people who like to quote sound bytes trying to sound smart and sophisticated, and by malicious politicians who know better. Best to reject the paradigm. The only thing useful about such rhetoric is it quickly identifies parrots not worth taking advice from or listening to. Don’t waste your time with such individuals.
Specifically, our agent responded
“I think by now most of us have heard of the recent administration’s illegal proposed ban on so-called ‘ghost guns’ — a propaganda term like ‘gun violence’. It’s my opinion that one refrain from using such terms in that it advances the rhetoric — OR use them in a satirical or mocking manner (at least in situations where the other person is smart enough to get the point). Obviously homemade firearms present little threat to anyone. And (like modern sporting rifles like the AR-15 variants) have been involved in statistically insignificant fractions of crimes. It has simply been an excuse to attempt to further regulate something which cannot (and should not) be regulated. Marxists are mentally ill and have an overwhelming compulsion to project control. When they cannot do so it becomes obsessive and vexes them to no end (this psychosis has a very dark side; the worst atrocities in human history have been caused by these type of individuals committing mass murder to satisfy their illusion of control).
Many of us have built firearms or fractions of them (fr’ instance have made a full up AR from a stripped lower or actually milled a receiver or frame from a kit). As such, we know the craftsmanship required to get something that actually is reliable and works–no small effort. Point being I doubt our current president with his questionable mental capacity could manage the simple task of re-assembling a field stripped Glock much less put a lower parts kit in or mill a receiver. So we all know claiming this is ‘easy’ is blatant propaganda. It takes expertise to craft a working firearm–something that’s been legal since the US was founded–and is often more expensive than buying a gun off the shelf. But you do get a customized gun that is yours — I am reminded of the old Heathkit electronics which were more expensive than already built devices but the fun was in the building and the educational experience gained (as such building a gun gives good insight into inner workings and gunsmithing).
Rather than whining or complaining or giving money to organizations which may not be effective I might suggest if the price is right getting a P80 kit or lower receiver kit and putting it together instead. It seems like a good way to give the communist wannabes the fingeroo while learning something yourself and having a bit of fun. Don’t forget that doing so is valuable education; people spend lots of money on relatively useless educational classes or unnecessary bureaucratic certifications– so when one looks at it in this light it makes sense to develop these basic skills. And one doesn’t feel guilty about spending the money for the education.”
